Mobility television DSNG

Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) can provide the continuous broadcast of live video on-the-move critical to supporting 24-hour news channels. Reporters can no longer leisurely stop to set up the communications equipment before going on air.

Specifically designed to offer in-transit broadcast of continuous live video, Gilat’s RaySat 2-way, in-motion, low-profile satellite antennas make the typical parabolic DSNG antennas obsolete. Improving ability and agility, RaySat antenna systems enable news teams to:

  • Reach extreme locations that others cannot
  • Be the first (or the only team) to reach and broadcast from hard-to-access locations
  • Film and broadcast while on the move
  • Land in a new international location and install the equipment on a rented vehicle

These antennas have been used by leading news organizations to cover national emergencies, presidential elections, Olympics, and other key events.

Mobile Satellite TV

RaySat antennas are the leading mobile satellite TV antennas on the market for buses, VIP vehicles, luxury cars and vans and recreational vehicles.

Bringing a variety of live satellite TV channels to moving vehicles, RaySat low-profiles antennas offer commercial transportation vehicles the ability to easily upgrade entertainment systems with live TV channels and even offer individual in-seat channel choices – sports, news, children and family programming, movies and other channels.

With a growing trend in the transportation market toward comfort and entertainment, RaySat antennas offer new revenue opportunities for installers, dealers and fleet owners and access to multiple transportation sectors, including buses, recreational vehicles, VIP vehicles, trains and large private cars.

In the competitive transportation market, the added-value service of live satellite entertainment can increase revenue margins, provide a strategic competitive advantage and increase customer contentment and brand satisfaction.

Designed for commercial use in a variety of different markets, RaySat antennas provide:

  • Sleek design to complement vehicles’ profiles
  • Low-profile; fits many size vehicles
  • Automatic and autonomous operating system for easy use
  • Rapid satellite tracking for reception at high speed
  • Satellite acquisition in < 1 minute, for quick signal reception
  • Satellite re-acquisition in < 10 seconds, following line-of-sight blockage

Commercial Antennas

RaySat product line of low-profile, two-way antennas for Satcom On-The-Move (SOTM) applications are specially designed for installation on a wide range of vehicles and trains. These compact antennas deliver critical data, voice, and video for secure real-time information flow.

Operating in Ku and Ka-bands, RaySat antennas have been successfully deployed worldwide, providing reliable broadband connectivity to various applications. These include digital satellite news gathering (DSNG), maritime, trains and buses.

RaySat antennas are also available as part of complete, integrated SOTM terminals with a unified management system. When integrated with 3rd-party modems, the antennas are supplied with an Antenna Control Unit (ACU).

Phased Array SatCom Antenna Technology for Mobile Platforms

We has developed a breakthrough technology for a fully electronically-steered array / phased-array antenna (ESA/PAA) for mobile satellite communication. The ultra slim (low profile) phased array antenna electronically steers the transmission and reception beams towards the satellite (versus traditional mechanical antenna steering) which allows operation even under the equator (no ‘key-hole’ effect). The antenna design is highly scalable, with array dimensions thatcan be changed to optimally match specific gain requirements. This makes it suitable for a large range of mobile platforms (aerial, land and maritime) as well having the flexibility to address varied throughput performance needs. Owing to its scalability and ultra-low profile, the antenna is particularly suited to supporting satellite communicationon -the -move (SOTM) connectivity for platforms that are constrained by size and weight. Our ESA/PAA technology has the advantage of being offered in either Ku or Ka band.

Mature Technology Meets a Growing Demand

We leads the way in bringing SOTM technology to market, with the most advanced technological innovations. In particularly our ESA/ PAA antennas are the most mature and proven of their kind, and havealready been delivered to prime customers globally. Gilat is committed to developing and enhancing this technology thatmeets an increasing demand for SOTM from industries such as:

• Commercial aviation
• Defense & homeland security
• High speed trains
• Automotive industry
• Size Constraint autonomous platforms
• Yachts
